I remember going to the doctors at a young age and despite them telling me it happens to many people and more than I was aware of, I was still discusted at myself for not being able to control it.

In my own mind I feel it is simply a matter of inherent weakness in the muscles which control my bladder, and possibly neurological problems as well, since I sometimes have little or no sensation of needing to urinate.
It is some years now since I made the decision that I would no longer worry about it. I've dealt with it my whole life, so I'm used to it.
I am mortified when I have an accident at another persons house and have to try and conceal it before they wake.
I usually don't drink hours before bed or don't sleep until the early hours of the morning so that I can try and avoid an incident.
Posted by isabelle on 21/08/2017 at I have suffered from incontinence my whole life; I've never been able to fully control my bladder.
Although it is primarily a nocturnal problem, I do have issues during the day too. Although it is very erratic, I wet in my sleep on average three or four times a week, though I can go for long periods without wetting; equally I have long periods of wetting every night.
During the day, I can normally control my bladder sufficiently well to get to a toilet when necessary, but if I am, for example, on a long car journey, or maybe some other situation where I am not certain that I can get to a toilet quickly, then I wear a nappy as a precaution.
